LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) _ Stone Energy Corp. (SGY) on Thursday reported a loss of $116.4 million in its fourth quarter.
On a per-share basis, the Lafayette, Louisiana-based company said it had a loss of $20.76. Losses, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were $4.88 per share.
The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of $3.91 per share.
The independent oil and gas company posted revenue of $113.1 million in the period.
For the year, the company reported net income of $590.6 million, or $105.63 per share, swinging to a profit in the period. Revenue was reported as $377.4 million.
Stone Energy shares have declined 13 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $6.21, a decline of 56 percent in the last 12 months.
