Shipwrecked is returning to E4, and it has enlisted a Strictly Come Dancing 2018 star to become the voice of the rebooted series.

Capital FM presenter (and fourth celebrity to be voted off this year's Strictly) Vick Hope has signed up to serve as the narrator for the all-new series of the paradise island reality show when it returns to E4 early next year.

"I’m chuffed to be voicing the all new series of Shipwrecked," Vick said in a statement.

"I was such a fan of the show back in the day on T4, and my friends and I would be so invested in all the tribal twists and turns on Shark and Tiger Island, so it’s a real honour to get to have the first sneak peek at winter’s hottest reality show.

"There are some amazing characters, epic bombshells and lovely waves of nostalgia ahead."

The new series will see a group of young castaways brought to two uninhabited paradise islands in the South Pacific to compete in the ultimate popularity contest as the Sharks and Tigers battle it out for a chance to win £50,000.

Over the series, the two tribes will be fighting to win over new arrivals to their islands, with the largest tribe at the end of the competition scoring the jackpot.

The series originally ran for three series between 2000 and 2001, before being revived in 2006 for a Battle of the Islands format. It ran in total for eight series, with its last The Island edition airing in 2012.

"Shipwrecked changed the game, and we’re very excited about the new series that confidently shakes up reality TV once again," E4 Controller Karl Warner added.

"Thanks to the amazing creative team behind the camera, a diverse cast of characters and the brilliant talents of Vick Hope, the new series has all the ingredients for a fresh blast of sunshine and surprises to kick off a hugely exciting year ahead on E4."

Shipwrecked will kick off early in 2019 on E4.
