CHINA FUELS CORN PRICES: Chinese buying pushed corn prices up 3 percent, as the country bought animal feed to maintain its pork supply.

METALS RISE: On an up day for the stock market, metals rose across the board. The most notable increases were in copper and palladium.

A 'DEAD-CAT BOUNCE'?: Natural gas rose slightly and is up 15 percent from just more than a week ago, when it hit its lowest level in more than a decade. Traders speculate that chilly spring weather could encourage homeowners to turn up their heat, which would create more demand for natural gas.
