TORONTO (AP) _ Sun Life Financial Inc. (SLF) on Wednesday reported fourth-quarter net income of $456.3 million.
On a per-share basis, the Toronto-based company said it had profit of 73 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were 90 cents per share.
The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 87 cents per share.
The financial services company posted revenue of $6.19 billion in the period.
For the year, the company reported profit of $2.02 billion, or $3.19 per share. Revenue was reported as $20.83 billion.
Sun Life shares have risen slightly more than 5 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $34.96, a decrease of 14 percent in the last 12 months.
