CALGARY, Alberta (AP) _ Suncor Energy Inc. (SU) on Wednesday reported first-quarter net income of $1.11 billion.
On a per-share basis, the Calgary, Alberta-based company said it had net income of 70 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were 58 cents per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 39 cents per share.
The energy company posted revenue of $7.07 billion in the period, also topping Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $7.06 billion.
Suncor Energy shares have climbed 16% since the beginning of the year. The stock has decreased 15% in the last 12 months.
