SunPower spikes up on Buffett deal

MidAmerican Paying Up to $2.5 Billion

SunPower announced that it sold two photovoltaic power plants to MidAmerican Energy, which is owned by Berkshire Hathaway. The deal is valued at $2 billion to $2.5 billion. SPWR gains 19 percent before the bell on my tradeMONSTER platform.

Family Dollar Drops on Weak Guidance

Family Dollar forecast second-quarter earnings of $1.18 to $1.28, while analysts had expected $1.39. Full-year results will also miss consensus. FDO is down 8 percent in early trading.

Mellanox Misses the Mark

Semiconductor company Mellanox Technologies said fourth-quarter revenue was just $119 million to $121 million. It had previously forecast $145 million to $150 million. Management cited weaker demand, and sellers are pounding the stock. MLNX is down 16 percent in the premarket.
