NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - April 30, 2015) - Now in its sixth year, Augmented World Expo (AWE) has always been dedicated to exploring technologies that make the world more interactive. This year's event will have a greater emphasis on virtual reality (VR) based on a new partnership with VR events and news organization, UploadVR.
The expanded AWE 2015 will feature over 200 speakers, 200 exhibitors, and numerous workshops and demos showcasing the latest innovations in augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), wearable tech, and the Internet of Things (IoT). Over 3,000 professionals are expected to attend.
AWE 2015 will take place June 8 to 10 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, California, in the heart of Silicon Valley.
As part of the UploadVR experience, AWE attendees will hear from VR leaders and pioneers in a dedicated speaker track. Topics in this track explore investments in VR, the impact of VR in the classroom, and how VR is changing the landscape of health and medicine. Speakers include VR pioneer and co-creator of VRML and X3D ISO standards for networked 3D graphics, Tony Parisi; president of Firsthand Technology and founder of DeepStream VR, Howard Rose; and grandfather of VR, Tom Furness.
"Augmented reality and virtual reality share certain technologies but have their own diverging communities," explained Ori Inbar. "With AWE 2015, our partnership with UploadVR will finally bring AR and VR together to showcase their combined strength."
The new dedicated VR content at this year's AWE echoes the conference theme also unveiled today "Superpowers to the People." The theme emphasizes how emerging technologies such as AR, VR, wearables, and IoT are transforming the ordinary into extraordinary and empowering people to be better at anything they do in work and life. The new theme is now live on AWE's website at www.augmentedworldexpo.com.
"Augmented and virtual reality are traveling on paths that are bound to intersect," said Taylor Freeman, founder and chief evangelist for UploadVR. "We partnered with AWE to stimulate this conversation and get people thinking about how they can work together to realize the goal of a mixed reality."
Augmented World Expo has included a detailed schedule for the conference. This year, AWE features over 200 companies both on stage and on the showroom floor. The three-day agenda is made up of over 20 workshops, 200 interactive demos, and 100 AWE-inspiring talks from industry leaders and pioneers.
Inbar added, "If you are still pondering the killer apps or have any doubts regarding the usefulness of these technologies, at AWE you'll see a critical mass of use cases in all verticals currently running at Fortune 1000 companies and delivering quantifiable improvements in productivity, engagement, and safety. AR and wearables mean real business!"
Day one of the conference is dedicated to learning with over 20 workshops and aimed at equipping developers, designers, CIOs, and technologists with the knowledge and skills you need to work with the latest technologies. Day two features nearly 100 micro-talks showcasing product demos and presentations on industry use cases leveraging AR, VR, wearables, and IoT. The final day of the conference is set to inspire the audience with some of the world's leading experts and pioneers telling their stories of creating experiences with interactive tech.
