T-Mobile Extends MLB Partnership to Boost Fanbase Experience

Zacks Equity Research
In partnership with Viacom (VIAB), T-Mobile (TMUS) intends to disrupt the present mobile TV options by offering more entertainment services to subscribers at a lower price.

T-Mobile US, Inc. TMUS recently extended its strategic partnership with Major League Baseball (MLB) for four years. Notably, the wireless carrier intends to provide its customers with unmatched benefits including a year’s free subscription of MLB.TV and the MLB At Bat app’s premium features, for a total value of $118.99, through T-Mobile Tuesdays starting Mar 26.

The company continues to be the title sponsor of the T-Mobile Home Run Derby during All-Star Week. Starting this year, T-Mobile is now the official wireless sponsor of Little League International — supposedly the largest organized youth sports program in the world. T-Mobile and MLB will support Little League International and its mission to provide opportunities through baseball and softball to millions of kids and their families. Notably, T-Mobile has been an active partner of Major League Baseball since 2013.

T-Mobile’s Key Focus

T-Mobile should significantly benefit from customer growth, courtesy of coverage expansion and industry-leading network performance including 4G LTE speeds. The company inched a step closer to building a nationwide 5G network with the successful completion of the world’s first 5G data transmission on low-band spectrum (600 MHz). T-Mobile achieved this unique feat in association with Nokia using global 5G standards in Spokane, WA.

Currently, the company is well underway to deliver nationwide 5G in 2020, deploying 5G-ready equipment as it rolls out 600 MHz Extended Range LTE, which is now live in more than 1,500 cities and towns in 37 states and Puerto Rico. Furthermore, T-Mobile is likely to drive its business with solid performances as the company has cleared most of the regulatory and shareholder approvals for its pending merger with Sprint. This is a step forward in creating the New T-Mobile through which it will bring robust competition to the 5G era.

T-Mobile boasts one of the fastest LTE networks in the industry realizing average 4G LTE download speeds of 33.4 Mbps, and average 4G LTE upload speeds of 12.1 Mbps. Covering more than 325 million people with 4G LTE, it is building out standards-based 5G across the nation, including six of the top 10 markets.

Others players in the industry include CenturyLink, Inc. CTL, Gogo Inc. GOGO and Telenav, Inc. TNAV.
