Taco Bell's Massive Nacho Party Pack Is Back for a Limited Time

A lot has happened since Taco Bell tested its Nacho Party Pack in Birmingham and I ordered two entire troughs of nachos for the office. Shortly after the item went nationwide for a limited time, well, 2020 happened. Like other restaurants, Taco Bell was affected by the pandemic, and over the summer they broke our hearts by scaling back their menu—and the second round of cuts, which promises the end of Mexican Pizza, looms.

So I'm relieved to report that Taco Bell is bringing the Nacho Party Pack back for a limited time at participating locations, although with a few adjustments. The price has increased to $9.99, and the only option for meat is seasoned ground beef. And if you try to order it online, you're greeted with an all-caps sodium warning. But hey, after Taco Bell has taken so many things away, we'll take it.

We can all agree that food is better when it comes out of a trough. There are fewer boundaries, and even if things get a little messy, we can embrace simple mechanisms to fulfill a core need: hunger.

And when it comes to impressing people, Taco Bell barely has to lift a finger. Rather than racking their brands to come up with an outrageous new product or stunt, all they really have to do is just add more to their carousel of options. Impossible Burger? Nah, let’s just add some more solid vegetarian options, because people dig those. The same logic was applied to Taco Bell’s newest project, the Nacho Party Pack.

The Nacho Party Pack is pretty much what it sounds like: A huge box of nachos adorned with your meat of choice (Ground beef goes for $7.99, while chicken and steak will tack on a few dollars), cheese, pico de gallo, refried beans, guac, sour cream, and pickled jalapeños. It’s advertised as a party appetizer or drunken snack, but play your cards right and it could make a meal—dinner for two, lunch for three, breakfast for four with a few fried eggs on top? It’s perfect for sleepovers, potlucks and tailgates, and my new life goal is to have this cardboard treasure chest at the beach—because comes in a box, the nacho bounty protected from the elements, so definitely embrace that and eat these outdoors.

The Nacho Party Pack is currently only available for testing in Birmingham, Alabama, which was perfect for us given that we’re based here. We tried it, and hopefully Taco Bell will take our blessings as a sign to release the Nacho Party Pack nationwide, or at least extend to a region.

So first things first: These may be comically huge (A Taco Bell employee wisely noted that the Nacho Party Pack’s box is the same as the P’Zone’s, which checks out being that Taco Bell and Pizza Hut both operate under Yum! Brands), but not so large as to make things difficult. Yes, I had to put the boxes in the back seat of my car, but they weren’t difficult to carry and they traveled surprisingly well. When we unveiled the boxes, the nachos inside seemed immaculate and were still at a nice temperature despite traveling for 20 minutes.

Taste-wise, the Nacho Party Pack takes the Taco Bell experience you know and love and just adds a lot more volume. There’s nothing bad we can say about these: they taste great (we tried beef and chicken), hold up, and provide more than enough food for a nice snack, whether that’s at 11:00 a.m. or midnight.
