If you were previously a fan of having money in your bank account at any given time, particularly, so you could pay bills and eat food and be a human, well, say goodbye. According to WWD, Target is launching same-day shipping and all of our savings are officially compromised. Hopefully, you weren’t attempting to put away your pennies for a rainy day, because Target’s accessible shopping is coming for your money.

The brick and mortar retailer made the leap into ~Amazonian~ territory (you see what we did there) by announcing a $550 million purchase of Shipt, which will make same-day delivery available for as many as half of Target’s stores in the beginning of 2018.

The Shipt grocery delivery service uses a network of over 20,000 personal shoppers to complete orders from their list of retailers. In the past, Shipt was primarily focused on groceries, but with the wide array of Target’s offerings, the service will be expanding their deliveries to include beauty products, electronics, essentials, and home products, according to WWD. By the end of 2019, Target plans to have their whole inventory available for same-day services.

While this is a huge step for both Target and Shipt, it’s an even huger change for thirsty shoppers across the country who will now get Amazon Prime levels of service from the classic retailer.

It appears that the competitive pressures of Amazon’s service have hedged on yet another retailer, but Target is up for the challenge.

In the meantime, while we wait for this game-changing delivery launch, we’ll be stacking up our pennies.
