Target Corporation (NYSE: TGT) is recalling, quickly, an Easter Egg toy that if ingested could expand and kill the child who eats it, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The recall was announced by the agency just prior to the holiday weekend.
“Surgery is required to remove the toy from the body, if ingested,” the CPSC said in a statement. “Medical professionals and parents should be aware that there is a possibility that the toys might not show up on an X-Ray.”
The recall covers 560,000 Hatch & Grow Easter Eggs, Easter Grow Toys and Hatch Your Own Dino water-absorbing toys sold by the retailer.
The agency advises that parents should immediately take the toys away from children.
“The pink, blue, or purple Hatch & Grow Easter Eggs include a white bunny, brown bunny, or butterfly,” the consumer agency said. “The Easter Grow Toys include a yellow chick, brown bunny, or white bunny. The Hatch Your Own Dino Eggs are purple or yellow/green and contains one of eleven dinosaurs.”
