Kim Kardashian West has revealed she’s a “different person” in her first major TV interview since the traumatic Paris robbery last October.

Appearing on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ on Thursday, the mother-of-two teared up as she recounted the terrifying moment five masked men bound, gagged and locked her in a bathroom, as they raided her Paris apartment.

“I know it sounds crazy, but I know that was meant to happen to me,” she explained. “I don’t want to start crying but I know it was meant to happen. I feel like I’m such a different person.

“I don’t want to cry anymore. I really feel like things happen in your life to teach you things.”

‘The Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ star revealed how the armed robbery, in which over $10million (£78m) worth of jewellery was stolen, had changed her life.

“It was probably no secret, you see it on the show,” she explained, fighting back the tears. “I was definitely materialistic before, not that there’s anything bad with having things and working hard to get those things. I’m really proud of everyone around me that’s successful.

“But I’m so happy that my kids get this me, that this is who I am raising my kids. I just don’t care about that stuff anymore. I really don’t.”

She continued: “Of course when you get engaged you’re going to show off your ring, if you get a car – no matter what it is – you feel really proud and you might show it off on social media.

“I’m not here to show off the way that I used to. It’s just not who I am anymore.”

Kim admitted, too, that she’s still feeling on edge after the incident, and has increased her personal security to ensure her family’s protection.

“Meeting with my attorneys and knowing the information that I know now, [the robbers] had been following me for two years,” she said.

“They had heard interviews that I did, getting excited about this jewellery and that jewellery. I truly don’t know if I’d ever feel comfortable wearing jewellery anymore, or wearing real jewellery again.

“My whole life has changed in terms of how I travel and my security. I never thought I would need security staying outside my door.

“I should have had a security guard outside of my door. Now I have several just for me to be able to sleep at night.”

Speaking about the harrowing ordeal, Kim recalled: “Automatically, your stomach drops, it’s a feeling you just can’t describe. I said a prayer, I said I know I’m going to heaven, I hope my kids and my husband are OK.

“I don’t want to cry, you’re making me cry,” she added, as she battled to regain her composure. “But it does happen really fast. It was a good seven or eight minutes of torture, but when I look back and analyse it, I’m like, ‘Okay, they weren’t really aggressive.’ It could have been way worse.”

She bravely concluded: “I’m out, I’m home, I’m safe. I’m such a better person. Let’s move on.”
