TerraMedia Signs Partnership Deal for Broken Flames Film Faulty Roots

LONDON, ENG / ACCESSWIRE / February 11, 2021 / Broken Flames Productions today announces its partnership deal with social impact agency TerraMedia on its film, Faulty Roots.

Jie-Ming Chung and Mikkel Juel Iversen of TerraMedia will serve as Executive Producers on the film. The pair will provide financing, production, and distribution support on the film to help ensure the film has an important social impact and meets its commercial goals.

Written and directed by Ella Greenwood, Faulty Roots is a coming-of-age film set in England that focuses on youth mental health. It tells the story of a depressed teen who is forced to spend the summer with an insufferably cheerful childhood friend who tries to "fix" her with childlike playdates while struggling with his own genetic illness.

The cast includes Gavin & Stacey star Melanie Walters and Sanditon actress Kayleigh-Paige Rees, who will also produce, and filming is set to start in late 2021.

Ella Greenwood, writer, and director, says, "TerraMedia is the ideal partner for such an important story, as a company it has an excellent understanding of what it takes for a film to be a success and a track record of nurturing films with real social impact. But just as important is how both Jie-Ming and Mikkel believe in the message behind the work in Faulty Roots, a film that puts a spotlight on the mental health of young people. So many are suffering and struggling in silence thanks to the pandemic, but this has always been a major issue. That's what I want to show in this film. Depression changes the way you look at everything, and Faulty Roots highlights the importance of friendship, family, and why we all need a proper, caring support network. The team at TerraMedia understands this, and it's why I'm so happy to have them on board."

Jie-Ming Chung of TerraMedia adds, "'We need films to help us understand, humanise and sympathise with the many ways that people experience depression. Faulty Roots does that. Ella and Kayleigh's honest ambition and dedication, in person and through film, to fostering mental wellbeing in young people is truly inspiring and desperately needed."

Faulty Roots is also being produced in association with U.K. Production Company Shakespeare Sisters with Hillary Shakespeare and Anna-Elizabeth Shakespeare serving as Executive Producers.

The film is supported by Stem4, a charity promoting positive mental health in teenagers and those who support them, including their families and carers, education professionals, as well as school nurses and GPs through the provision of mental health education, resilience strategies, and early intervention.
