Editor's note: The article has been updated to reflect that the driver in the video did not slow down for any technical reason; he slowed down because of a speed limit.
In a new video, a driver in Germany demonstrated what happens when you take a Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model S to 125 miles per hour on the Autobahn: it lasts for 12 minutes before being forced to slow down because of a speed limit.
This video follows moves by Elon Musk to respond to criticism about the Model S's speed.
In Germany, Musk offered owners a free tuning upgrade, which included raising the speed limit and adjusting the calibration of the suspension and engine software, according to Clean Technica.
In their review, Car and Driver said the 2015 Model S "consumed less energy, achieved a higher top speed, and is a bit quieter during acceleration and cruising" than prior models. However, it delivered "slightly poorer acceleration, braking, and cornering performance."
Tesla stock has been on a tear as the company looks to rebrand itself from an automotive company to an energy company. The first move towards that came when Tesla announced its stationary battery.
Since then, the stock gained more than 17 percent.
Year-to-date, the stock is higher by 10 percent following gains of 47 percent last year.
