PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ Textron Inc. (TXT) on Thursday reported third-quarter net income of $563 million.
The Providence, Rhode Island-based company said it had profit of $2.26 per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were 61 cents per share.
The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 76 cents per share.
The maker of Cessna small planes and Bell helicopters posted revenue of $3.2 billion in the period, which also missed Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $3.53 billion.
Textron expects full-year earnings in the range of $3.20 to $3.30 per share.
Textron shares have climbed 14 percent since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has risen 5 percent. The stock has climbed 22 percent in the last 12 months.
