Thousands gather for second day of street protests in Myanmar - witnesses
Feb 7 (Reuters) - Thousands of people marched for a secondday in Myanmar’s biggest city on Sunday to protest against themilitary junta's overthrow and detention of elected leader AungSan Suu Kyi last week.
Protesters in Yangon carried red balloons – the colourrepresenting Suu Kyi’s National League for Democracracy Party(NLD) – and chanted, “We don’t want military dictatorship! Wewant democracy!”
By mid-morning about 100 people had also gathered in thecoastal town of Mawlamine in the southeast and students anddoctors were gathering in the city of Mandalay.(Reporting by Reuters staff; Writing by Poppy McPherson;Editing by Kim Coghill)
