SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Feb 24, 2014) - RSA 2014, Booth #2320 -- Tilera® Corporation, the leader in high-performance, power-efficient computing and Procera Networks Inc. (
Telecom and cloud service providers as well as enterprises are demanding greater visibility into the traffic flowing through their networks in order to manage diverse functions such as billing and quality-of-service, as well as to monitor for threats and abnormal usage behaviors. At the same time, the network speeds and traffic volumes are increasing exponentially, putting stress on traditional network monitoring platforms. The DPI-on-a-NIC solution plugs into a standard x86 server and can deliver 10Gbps up to 80Gbps of Layer 4 to 7 deep packet inspection while achieving URL-filtering performance of 225,000 new, unique URLs per second.
"Operators are moving more and more workloads onto the servers in their datacenters, but the complexity of the networking functions together with the increase in traffic is creating bottlenecks," said Bob Doud, director of marketing, Tilera Corporation. "By offloading the networking data plane to our intelligent application adapters, customers can scale to meet increased demands as their data and video traffic escalates. With the combination of Tilera's TILEncore Intelligent Application Adapters and Procera's NAVL software solutions, customers can implement a flexible and scalable DPI offload model using their existing servers."
Tilera's scalable TILEncore-Gx Intelligent Application Adapters are available in configurations ranging from two 10Gb Ethernet ports on a half-length, low-profile PCIe card up to eight 10Gb ports on a three-quarter length PCIe card with an 8-lane PCIe Gen3 interface. The solution leverages Tilera's TILE-Gx manycore processors and the Multicore Development Environment™, a comprehensive software tool suite using standards-based Linux and C/C++ programming.
Procera's NAVL is a powerful DPI engine, providing real-time, Layer 7 classification of network application traffic. Users can selectively filter and forward flows to applications on the x86 host that have been registered to handle those flows. NAVL enhances telecommunications providers' abilities to deliver a variety of application-aware functions to ensure equitable access to resources by all users and to create tiered classes of service for billing.
"There is a growing demand for high-throughput, high-accuracy DPI to enable network optimization and tiered billing," said Joe Digiovanni, director, business development, Procera Networks. "Application types are exploding in service provider and enterprise networks and Procera's NAVL DPI engine provides support for the breadth of applications and protocols needed by the enterprise and service provider markets. The 80Gbps throughput that can be achieved with the combination of TILEncore-Gx Intelligent Application Adapters, DPI-on-a-NIC and Procera's NAVL engine is the perfect solution to meet this rapidly growing and complex marketplace, especially as the market moves to a standard server model."
Tilera and Procera Networks will demonstrate the new solution in San Francisco at the Moscone Convention Center, February 24-27, 2014 at Tilera booth #2320 in the South Expo.
