The 1st installment in "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" trilogy was tops at the box office for a 2nd weekend in a row in U.S. and Canadian theaters. The Time Warner (TWX)-MGM co-production grossed $36.7 mil, according to industry tracker Hollywood.com. No. 2 "Jack Reacher," from Viacom (VIAB)-owned Paramount Pictures, took in $15.6 mil over the weekend. The comedy "This Is 40," from Comcast's (CMCSA) Universal Pictures, was No. 3 at $12 mil.
