Timothée Chalamet Looks Like a Chic Mechanic at the 2020 Oscars

·3 min read

From Harper's BAZAAR

  • Timothée Chalamet wore a Prada look with Cartier jewels to the 2020 Oscars.

  • The actor, who appeared in the Best Picture-nominated Little Women, presented an award at tonight's ceremony.

  • Twitter promptly came through with jokes about the star's surprisingly laid-back look.

Timothée Chalamet can wear anything on the red carpet. This is the guy who wore a bedazzled Louis Vuitton harness to the Golden Globes, a satin belted Haider Ackermann suit to the Venice Film Festival, and a sequined hoodie to the U.K. premiere of The King.

Tonight, the 24-year-old actor proved that the Oscars are not off-limits for his boundary-pushing wardrobe. He showed up to the ceremony in a navy Prada zip-up over a white shirt and tie, along with matching joggers. In a red carpet full of suits and tuxes, the actor exuded a cool insouciance in his elevated athleisure. And by elevated, I mean he even stuck a Cartier brooch on the pocket of his Cool Dad™ jacket.

Because the Internet is the Internet, Chalamet promptly became the target of a few Twitter jokes. With his uncharacteristically slicked-back hair and sporty coordinates, some joked that he looked like a gym teacher, a soccer coach, or gas-station employee. Personally, I'd like to suggest mechanic or Wes Anderson character.

Either way, we dig the look on Chalamet. If anyone can pull off a slightly-out-of-place-but-nonetheless-awesome outfit at the Oscars, it's him. Margot Robbie, whom the actor photobombed on the red carpet, seemed to be a fan too.
