IPO Edge, Latham & Watkins and the Palm Beach Hedge Fund Association will host a roundtable with the CEOs of Owlet Baby Care, TytoCare, and Kinsa on Wednesday, May 26 at 1pm EDT to discuss parenting in the age of digital health. The live event will feature Latham & Watkins Associate Nima Movahedi, Owlet Baby Care Co-Founder and CEO Kurt Workman, TytoCare Co-Founder and CEO Dedi Gilad, and Kinsa Founder and CEO Inder Singh. IPO Edge Editor-in-Chief John Jannarone and Editor-at-Large Jarrett Banks will moderate the video session, which will last approximately 90 minutes and include a Q&A with the audience.

Owlet Baby Care has pioneered the integration of disruptive IoT technology into parenting and childcare with their proactive health monitor and connected nursery ecosystem of products, allowing parents to read their sleeping infants’ vital signs in real time. In early 2021, Owlet announced its plans to go public via a SPAC, valued at over $1 billion, through a merger with Sandbridge Acquisition Corporation (NYSE: SBG).

TytoCare has helped usher the telehealth revolution into the home with their handheld at-home medical exam kit, allowing parents and other caregivers to provide information physicians need to easily diagnose ear infections and other symptoms such as coughs and sore throat. TytoCare completed an extended Series D in early 2021, having raised a total of more than $100m in the past year.

Kinsa Health has led the fight against contagious disease through their network of smart thermometers, numbering in the millions, which provide an early warning system that allows communities and individuals to spot and help halt the spread of contagious diseases.

Messrs. Movahedi, Workman, Gilad and Singh will discuss:

  • New technologies driving digital health and parenting

  • The role of AI in digital health

  • Paths to public markets for innovative healthcare companies

  • The future of telemedicine in a post-Covid environment

  • Potential for industry consolidation

  • The Biden administration’s approach to healthcare and implications for investors

  • Partnerships with established players (pharmacies, physicians, hospitals)

About the Speakers:

Nima Movahedi is an associate in the Orange County office of Latham & Watkins who advises clients on mergers and acquisitions, venture capital, and emerging companies, capital markets, and corporate governance matters. He regularly advises private and public companies, private equity, and venture capital firms and financial institutions on general corporate matters and corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, early-stage formation and corporate strategy, preferred stock, venture capital and debt financings, public offerings of securities, and general corporate advice on day-to-day business matters. His clients have included public and private companies in the life sciences, technology, financial services, aerospace, retail and entertainment industries.

Kurt Workman is the CEO and co-founder of Owlet Baby Care. He has dedicated the last decade to revolutionizing infant health, leading Owlet’s growth from its inception and overseeing research and development of the company’s pipeline, including the creation of the Owlet Smart Sock and its connected nursery ecosystem of products. He has also served as a member of Owlet’s board of directors since he co-founded the company, and continues to provide key oversight of Owlet’s product portfolio and growth opportunities. In early 2021, Owlet announced its plans to go public via a SPAC, valued at over $1 billion.

Dedi Gilad is the CEO and Co-Founder of TytoCare. Under Dedi’s leadership, the company has received FDA & CE clearances and has seen extensive growth over the last few years resulting in over 150 partnerships with major health systems, health plans, and strategic partners in the U.S., Europe, Israel, and Asia. Before founding TytoCare, Dedi was the General Manager at MDG Medical, VP R&D at WorkplaceIQ (acquired by Accruent), and VP R&D at Aman Group, where he also led an R&D group for Microsoft.

Inder Singh is the founder and CEO of Kinsa, a public health company using digital technology to curb the spread of infectious illness. Aggregating population health insights from its network of smart thermometers, Kinsa has created an early warning system shown to predict the flu 12-20 weeks in advance, shown to be an early indicator of COVID-19 outbreaks, and predicting hotspots nearly 3 weeks before hospitalizations and deaths. Insights from Kinsa’s early warning system have been used by nearly every major news outlet, including the New York Times, CNBC, MSNBC, FOX News and CNN, among others.
