The company has teamed up with MoviePass, the brainchild of Netflix former executive Mitch Lowe, and Fandor to offer Costco members a special one-year plan priced at $89.99. Shares of Helios and Matheson, which has a majority stake in MoviePass, crumbled yesterday after announcing a dilutive equity offering.

Costco Wholesale Corporation shares closed down a modest 0.01% on Wednesday with a little over 3 million shares traded. Costco will be offering members MoviePass and streaming Fandor service for just $89.99 a year on December 12th through the 18th. MoviePass and Fandor are partnering with Costco to offer the special one-year plan at that price. The companies stated, "Those who sign up for the one-year subscriptions will receive digital codes providing instant access to Fandor's library of over 5,000 films, as well as a year's worth of the latest and greatest in-theater experiences through MoviePass." MoviePass has over 600,000 subscribers since it launched a $9.95 a month plan this past August. The company is owned in majority by Helios and Matheson Analytics Inc. and was founded by Mitch Lowe who was a former founding executive at Netflix. The company is aiming for an IPO next year.

Helios and Matheson Analytics Inc. shares closed down 32.64% on Wednesday with nearly 22 million shares traded. The stock was one of the biggest decliners on the NASDAQ yesterday after the company announced that it has agreed to sell 8,261,539 Series A units, with each Series A Unit consisting of (i) one share of the Company's common stock, par value $0.01 per share, and (ii) one Series A Warrant to purchase one share of Common Stock. Helios will also be selling 969,230 Series B units, with each Series B Unit consisting of (i) one pre-funded Series B Warrant to purchase one share of Common Stock and (ii) one Series A Warrant. The company confirmed on Tuesday that it is selling the shares to raise funds for increasing its stake in MoviePass. The units offered at $6.50 each are 35% lower than what the stock's closing price was on Tuesday and traders didn't seem thrilled with the news.
