1. Catch a magic show
Illusionist Leon Etienne returns to Central New York for the holiday season with his show Magic Rocks! Shows will take place at 2 and 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 26-27, at The Strand Theatre, 3093 state Route 28, Old Forge. Tickets are $25. To purchase tickets, visit OldForgeMagic.com. 2. Check out the Feztival of Trees
The Ziyara Shriners brought its annual Feztival of Trees event to Sangertown Square, 8555 Seneca Turnpike, New Hartford. This holiday event is underway and will continue through Sunday, Nov. 28, in the Boscov’s Wing. The decorated trees and the gifts surrounding them are donated by local businesses and organizations and raffled off to raise money for the Ziyara Shriners. Event hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 26-27 and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 28. Admission is free. Raffle tickets are 25 for $5. Guests can use raffle tickets for a chance to win one of the donated decorated trees or basket raffles on display throughout the event.
3. See holiday lights at the Utica Zoo
The Bright Nights series returns to the Utica Zoo Fridays through Sundays beginning Friday, Nov. 26, and continuing through Sunday, Dec. 19. Bright Nights will feature light displays and holiday fun including caroling, crafts, food truck vendors, fireside warming stations, and Santa Claus. General admission is $8 for adults; $5 for children; and $6.75 for seniors, military, and college students with ID. Children under 2 are free. Utica Zoo members will receive 50 percent off admission.
4. Enjoy a soccer game
Utica City FC will kick off the 2021-22 season with a preseason game vs. the Cleveland Crunch at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 28, at the Adirondack Bank Center, 400 Oriskany St. W., Utica. UCFC players will wear special shirts which will be given away from the field after the game. To purchase a ticket, go to empirestatetix.com.
5. Shop for Christmas crafts
Christmas & Crafts returns to the Turning Stone Resort Casino's Event Center Friday through Sunday, Nov. 26-28. Hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for first responders, military and seniors ages 55 and older, $2 for children ages 6-12 and free for children 5 and younger.
