Trader Joe’s is my happy place—no joke. Its frozen food aisle…I mean, just thinking about it gets me pumped for next week’s haul. OH, and that cauliflower gnocchi?! I swear, Trader Joe’s has made me a budget-friendly chef.

And while I know that TJ’s is friendly to my wallet, I couldn’t help but wonder how friendly it is when it comes to compensating its employees. According to a report from Business Insider, it turns out that the grocery store treats its workers pretty well.

With approximately 488 stores across the country, the wages differ depending on location, but it seems like a pretty well-liked work environment across the board. Glassdoor self reports indicate that 84 percent of people would recommend working at Trader Joe’s to a friend. Hey, employees do get 10 percent off groceries. Think of all the caulignocchi….

In a statement to Business Insider, a Trader Joe’s representative said, “In general, we offer above minimum wage.” And according to the website, workers have the possibility of getting a 7 percent to 10 percent raise each year and are eligible for PTO and a solid health-care plan.

A deep dive into PayScale and Glassdoor reveals some conflicting info when it comes to salary estimates, but read on for an overview.

Trader Joe’s mates (the people who walk around and assist you) can take in anywhere from $18 to $30 per hour, depending on location. Store captains, on the other hand, who are considered managers, make anywhere from $88,086 to $111,767 annually, according to PayScale and Glassdoor respectively.

The website indicates that crew members will make anywhere from $11 to $20 an hour, depending on location. PayScale and Glassdoor report that average salary is around $14 or $15 per hour.
