TransCanada: 4Q Earnings Snapshot

CALGARY, Alberta (AP) _ TransCanada Corp. (TRP) on Thursday reported fourth-quarter net income of $857.4 million.

The Calgary, Alberta-based company said it had profit of 90 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were 78 cents per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 70 cents per share.

The energy infrastructure company posted revenue of $2.95 billion in the period.

For the year, the company reported profit of $2.86 billion, or $3.03 per share. Revenue was reported as $10.55 billion.

TransCanada shares have increased 18 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has fallen 2 percent in the last 12 months.
