MORRISVILLE, N.C. (AP) _ TransEnterix Inc. (TRXC) on Wednesday reported a loss of $20.2 million in its second quarter.
The Morrisville, North Carolina-based company said it had a loss of 10 cents per share. Losses, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 9 cents per share.
The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 8 cents per share.
The maker of surgical robots and medical instruments posted revenue of $3.6 million in the period, which also fell short of Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $5.1 million.
In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, the company's shares hit $1.15. A year ago, they were trading at $4.76.
