SUNNYVALE, Calif. (AP) _ Trimble Navigation Ltd. (TRMB) on Wednesday reported third-quarter net income of $78.1 million.
The Sunnyvale, California-based company said it had net income of 31 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 48 cents per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 47 cents per share.
The GPS manufacturer posted revenue of $783.9 million in the period, which did not meet Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $806.8 million.
For the current quarter ending in December, Trimble expects its per-share earnings to range from 46 cents to 50 cents.
The company said it expects revenue in the range of $768 million to $798 million for the fiscal fourth quarter. Analysts surveyed by Zacks had expected revenue of $818.9 million.
Trimble expects full-year earnings in the range of $1.91 to $1.95 per share, with revenue ranging from $3.21 billion to $3.24 billion.
Trimble shares have increased 19% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $39.30, a climb of roughly 7% in the last 12 months.
