DALLAS (AP) _ Trinity Industries Inc. (TRN) on Wednesday reported fourth-quarter net income of $27.3 million.
On a per-share basis, the Dallas-based company said it had profit of 19 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs and to account for discontinued operations, came to 26 cents per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 23 cents per share.
The industrial manufacturer posted revenue of $735 million in the period, which also beat Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $673.2 million.
For the year, the company reported profit of $159.3 million, or $1.07 per share. Revenue was reported as $2.51 billion.
Trinity Industries expects full-year earnings to be $1.15 to $1.35 per share.
Trinity Industries shares have risen 26 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $26, a decrease of 25 percent in the last 12 months.
