NEEDHAM, Mass. (AP) _ TripAdvisor Inc. (TRIP) on Wednesday reported fourth-quarter net income of $15 million.
The Needham, Massachusetts-based company said it had profit of 11 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 38 cents per share.
The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of nine analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 34 cents per share.
The travel website operator posted revenue of $335 million in the period, which also topped Street forecasts. Eight analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $331.6 million.
For the year, the company reported profit of $126 million, or 89 cents per share. Revenue was reported as $1.56 billion.
TripAdvisor shares have increased slightly since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has climbed nearly 5%. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $30.45, a decline of 50% in the last 12 months.
