HSINCHU, Taiwan (AP) _ Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSM) on Thursday reported fourth-quarter profit of $5.01 billion.

The Hsinchu, Taiwan-based company said it had profit of 97 cents per share.

The chip company posted revenue of $12.68 billion in the period.

For the year, the company reported profit of $17.6 billion, or $3.39 per share. Revenue was reported as $45.51 billion.

For the current quarter ending in April, TSMC said it expects revenue in the range of $12.7 billion to $13 billion.

TSMC shares have climbed slightly more than 9% since the beginning of the year. The stock has increased 99% in the last 12 months.
