Dr. Lewis's distinguished credentials as a renowned meteorologist include many vital leadership positions within the U.S. Air Force spanning a career of more than 30-years. In 1996 he was named Director of Weather, Deputy Chief of Staff for USAF Air and Space Operations. From 2000 to 2005, Dr. Lewis accepted a position with IPS MeteoStar. In 2005, he returned to the U.S. Air Force and from 2007 to 2013 Dr. Lewis once again became the Director of Weather, Deputy Chief of Staff for Air, Space and Information Operations, Plans and Requirements. Most recently, he held the title of Director of Policy and Resources, Office of Information Dominance and Chief Information Officer, Office of the Secretary of the Air Force, in Washington, D.C.
In addition to his robust experience with the Air Force, through his previous experience at IPS MeteoStar, Dr. Lewis is knowledgeable about Sutron's MeteoStar Division, its mission and unique strategic capabilities. As Vice President and President of IPS MeteoStar in Aurora, Colorado (acquired by Sutron in 2012) for five years ending in 2005, Dr. Lewis spearheaded significant achievements in the field of meteorology related to the weather operations of commercial airlines, military organizations, environmental and emergency management customers both domestically and around the world.
