U.S. Large-Cap Growth & Dividend: 2 ETFs Trading with Outsized Volume

Zacks Equity Research

In the last trading session, the U.S. stocks gave a mixed performance. Weaker consumer spending and inflation data dampened market sentiments. Among the top ETFs, investors saw SPY gain about 0.6%, DIA move higher by 0.1% but QQQ move down by over 0.1% on the day.

Two more specialized ETFs are worth noting in particular though as both saw trading volume that was far outside of normal. In fact, in the most recent trading session, both these funds experienced volume levels that were more than double their average. This could make these ETFs ones to watch out for in the days ahead to see if this trend of extra interest continues:

SCHG: Volume 3.23 times average

This U.S. large-cap growth ETF was in focus on Monday as roughly 976,759 shares moved hands compared to an average of roughly 302,200 shares.

The movement can largely be credited to a lower greenback which put large-cap investing in focus. In the last one-month period, SCHG was up 5%. The fund carries a Zacks ETF Rank #3 (Hold).

FVD: Volume 2.67 times average

This U.S. dividend ETF was under the microscope yesterday as nearly 1.17 million shares moved hands. This compares to an average trading volume of 437,420 shares and came as FVD gained about 0.1% in the session.

The movement was because of the falling long-term U.S. Treasury yields. In the last one-month period, FVD was up 5%. The fund has a Zacks ETF Rank #2 (Buy).
