U.S. stock index futures indicated a flat open for Wall Street ahead on the penultimate day of the New Year.
The S&P 500 Futures edged 0.50 points lower to 1836.00 points while the Nasdaq Futures were unchanged at 3570.30 points.
Pending home sales data is due at 10.00 a.m. Eastern Time, followed by the Dallas Fed manufacturing business index at 10.30 a.m.
Twitter was down 2.3% in pre-market action following a 13% decline on Friday on heavy volumes. That was on the back of a 22% gain Thursday.
Apple was also active ahead of the opening bell, down 0.2%. The company has told shareholders to reject a share buyback plan being pitched by billionaire investor Carl Icahn, according to a SEC filing late Friday.
Also in focus, Myriad Genetics plunged 4.7% after the company said it could slash its reimbursement rate for a popular genetic test that predicts women's risk of breast cancer.
Earlier Monday, the Nikkei closed higher on its last day of trade before the New Year. Other Asian markets will trade for a half day Tuesday. European markets were marginally lower midmorning.
