Ukraine’s SBU in Kharkiv Oblast exposes Russian agent among its employees

The suspect joined the Ukrainian special service shortly after Russia’s full-scale invasion.

Having access to secret information, he passed on various intelligence to his supervisors, including about the plans of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and law enforcement agencies.
In turn, the invaders used this information to redeploy their own units to protect them from artillery strikes.

In addition, thanks to this information, the Russians planned various acts of sabotage and carried out both massive artillery and targeted missile strikes on strategic objects in the city of Kharkiv.
Before joining the SBU, the perpetrator worked as a local city council official.
“In exchange for cooperation, the enemy provided the ‘mole’ with security guarantees for him and his family if Russia managed to capture the region,” Dekhtiarenko said.
“According to SBU counterintelligence data, the agent sent the collected information to a member of the Russian special services through closed communication channels. The law enforcement officers detained the traitor red-handed after he had asked a representative of the Russian special services to strike a facility housing SBU personnel.”

The Russian agent has already been served with charge papers under Part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed under martial law) and has been remanded in custody.
