HAYWARD, Calif. (AP) _ Ultra Clean Holdings Inc. (UCTT) on Thursday reported a fourth-quarter loss of $1.1 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.
On a per-share basis, the Hayward, California-based company said it had a loss of 3 cents. Earnings, adjusted for amortization costs and pretax expenses, came to 23 cents per share.
The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 25 cents per share.
The chipmaking equipment services company posted revenue of $257.4 million in the period, exceeding Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $248.3 million.
For the year, the company reported profit of $36.6 million, or 94 cents per share. Revenue was reported as $1.1 billion.
For the current quarter ending in April, Ultra Clean expects its per-share earnings to range from 9 cents to 19 cents.
The company said it expects revenue in the range of $230 million to $250 million for the fiscal first quarter.
Ultra Clean shares have increased 49 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $12.61, a decrease of 37 percent in the last 12 months.
