Ummm, Behr Made an ASMR Video with Paint

Binge-watching ASMR videos—you know, the footage of people making quiet, repeated sounds that often result in the viewer feeling tingly—is as normal as binge-watching Friends at this point. If you search "ASMR" on YouTube, you'll be served videos with hundreds of millions of views, and a lot of them have similar content: whispering, playing with slime, cutting soap. One thing you wouldn't have seen until this week? An ASMR video involving painting. We were skeptical at first—could watching someone paint a room really be shiver-inducing?—but we have to say, Behr Paint Company, the maker of the video, pulled it off.

“Seasoned DIYers will recognize the satisfying soundtrack of the painting process," says Jodi Allen, chief marketing officer at Behr. It's true—people often say projects like painting are therapeutic, a chance to use your hands and turn off your head for a bit. That calming feeling is nothing new. But you've always had to get off your butt and do the work to get the reward. Behr's video offers similar (possibly even better?) satisfaction, but all you need to do is click play. Yep, the amplified sounds of typical painting steps—shuffling through the paint deck, rolling on the paint, pulling off the painter's tape—do indeed cause that tingly feeling ASMR fans hope for.
