Universal Health Services: 2Q Earnings Snapshot

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. (AP) _ Universal Health Services Inc. (UHS) on Wednesday reported second-quarter net income of $226.1 million.

The King Of Prussia, Pennsylvania-based company said it had net income of $2.39 per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to $2.47 per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $2.39 per share.

The hospital and health facility operator posted revenue of $2.68 billion in the period, missing Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $2.72 billion.

Universal Health Services shares have risen slightly more than 4 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $118.19, a fall of roughly 4 percent in the last 12 months.
