KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. (AP) _ Universal Health Services Inc. (UHS) on Tuesday reported first-quarter earnings of $206.1 million.
The King Of Prussia, Pennsylvania-based company said it had net income of $2.12 per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, came to $2.10 per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of nine analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $2.06 per share.
The hospital and health facility operator posted revenue of $2.61 billion in the period, which fell short of Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $2.65 billion.
Universal Health Services shares have climbed 14 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $121.42, a decline of 5 percent in the last 12 months.
