KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. (AP) _ Universal Health Services Inc. (UHS) on Tuesday reported fourth-quarter earnings of $174.2 million.
On a per-share basis, the King Of Prussia, Pennsylvania-based company said it had profit of $1.78. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were $1.80 per share.
The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.79 per share.
The hospital and health facility operator posted revenue of $2.48 billion in the period, which also topped Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $2.47 billion.
For the year, the company reported profit of $702.4 million, or $7.14 per share. Revenue was reported as $9.77 billion.
Universal Health Services expects full-year earnings in the range of $7.70 to $8.20 per share, with revenue in the range of $10.62 billion to $10.76 billion.
Universal Health Services shares have climbed 18 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $125.60, a climb of 14 percent in the last 12 months.
