Monday's market movers
U.S. indexes closed lower Monday, ending a streak of gains for the Dow Jones. Investors were watching global growth after China reported its weakest industrial output in 17.5 years. Weekend attacks on Saudi Arabian oil production were also in focus. The attacks sent oil prices and energy stocks higher Monday. The S&P 500 energy sector gained 3.52% and oil prices reported there largest one-day gain in over 10 years.
There were no major reports on the economic calendar Monday. The Treasury held auctions for three-month bills at a rate of 1.945% and six-month bills at a rate of 1.87%. Demand for Treasuries in the secondary market was higher. The 30-year bond's price increased 11/32 to a yield of 2.320%.
In the S&P 500, materials, consumer discretionary and consumer staples led losses. In the Dow Jones Industrial Average, the following stocks led losses:

The Dow Jones U.S. Small-Cap Growth Index closed at 10,096.24 for a gain of 45.08 points or 0.45%. The Dow Jones U.S. Small-Cap Value Index closed at 9,603.59 for a loss of 10.06 points or -0.10%.
