WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwired - August 22, 2016) - The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) is proud to announce Rhett Buttle, Business Outreach Director for Hillary for America, as the recipient of its 2016 "LGBT Business Advocate Award." Rhett Buttle will receive this honor at the organization's national convention on October 9th in Miami, Florida.
Each year, this accolade is presented to an entrepreneur, corporate representative, community leader or elected official whose work fosters a better understanding and closer cooperation between the LGBT and other diverse communities that drive our nation's economy. The award reception is hosted in partnership with the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC).
"NGLCC is proud of Rhett Buttle for his excellence in advancing economic equality for the LGBT community and diverse communities at large," said Chance Mitchell, CEO and Co-Founder of the NGLCC. "We commend him for championing small business development in each of his roles, and we, alongside our longstanding partners at the USHCC, are thrilled to recognize him as the 2016 LGBT Business Advocate of the Year."
"Throughout his career, Rhett has been a champion for American small businesses and for equal opportunity for the LGBT community," said USHCC President & CEO Javier Palomarez.
"His work at the Department of Health and Human Services, The White House Business Council, the Small Business Majority, and the Hillary Clinton campaign has all been focused on building bridges between government and all American business communities -- including LGBT and Hispanic owned businesses. Rhett has shown a passion for ensuring business leaders have a seat at the table on critical issues such as comprehensive immigration reform and ensuring that the LGBT community has fair access to quality healthcare. We are thrilled to recognize him for his achievements with the 2015 LGBT Business Advocate of the Year Award."
"I am incredibly grateful to the USHCC for their recognition, and honored to receive this award," said Rhett Buttle. "We've made tremendous progress, but we must work together to ensure that all Americans, regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation, have the opportunity to achieve the American Dream in the business world."
Buttle, who currently serves as the Director of Business Outreach for the Hillary Clinton campaign, previously served as President & Managing Director at the Small Business Majority, a national business advocacy organization.
