Whenever you watch an old race on YouTube, the first thing you likely notice is the quality of the production. Grainy, with tracking lines if it was in the VCR era, it's far different than today's high definition world.

But it also feels more special. Warmer. More difficult to capture. Since a cell phone can capture an amazing video now, anyone can get beautiful footage of a race. But what's the fun in that? If you really want something special, you film a race with an old school camera.

This video from the 2019 IndyCar weekend at Road America was filmed Canon Super 8 camera from 1968. The grainy picture makes it seem like modern race cars went back in time. Check it out.
