HOUSTON (AP) _ Vaalco Energy Inc. (EGY) on Monday reported a first-quarter loss of $52.8 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.
On a per-share basis, the Houston-based company said it had a loss of 91 cents. Earnings, adjusted for asset impairment costs and non-recurring costs, came to 12 cents per share.
The oil and natural gas explorer posted revenue of $18.4 million in the period.
In the final minutes of trading on Monday, the company's shares hit 88 cents. A year ago, they were trading at $1.88.
