Vail Resorts reports 4Q loss

BROOMFIELD, Colo. (AP) _ Vail Resorts Inc. (MTN) on Thursday reported a loss of $57.1 million in its fiscal fourth quarter.

The Broomfield, Colorado-based company said it had a loss of $1.43 per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of $1.82 per share.

The ski resort operator posted revenue of $209.1 million in the period, falling short of Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $211.5 million.

For the year, the company reported profit of $210.6 million, or $5.22 per share. Revenue was reported as $1.91 billion.

Vail Resorts shares have climbed 41 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has increased 46 percent in the last 12 months.
