Valmie (VMRI) Looks to the Future as Drone Industry Receives Funding Support, Technical Expertise, Early Access

HOUSTON, TX / ACCESSWIRE / June 3, 2015 / Gerald Hammack, President and CEO of Valmie Resources Inc. (VMRI) today commented on the two new sources of funding, resources and technical support now available to drone technology start-ups. Last week DJI, the world’s largest consumer drone company, formed a joint initiative with Silicon Valley venture capital firm Accel Partners to invest in start-ups in the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) ecosystem. This news occurred on the same day drone operating system developer Airware announced it had launched a new venture fund aimed an investing in emerging companies that are "developing technologies critical to scaling the use of drones across a variety of commercial applications."

"These two groundbreaking drone-focused funds will push the industry forward, take companies out of university labs and early-stage production facilities, and fast-track growth in a wide variety of sectors," said Hammack. "Not only will DJI and Airware develop their platforms, they will also ensure commercial consumers have the technology they need to successfully operate their UAV's within their specific sectors - now more than ever, we see commercial drones in our future!"

Hammack said that just as Facebook and the iPhone served as an underpinning for innumerable new desktop and mobile apps, these two funds will build the foundation for rapid commercialization of the most innovative products and services for the UAV community. "There may never be a better time than now to build tools and develop services for commercial drones," added Hammack.

In addition to capital, portfolio companies from both funds will receive access to a network of advisors to help grow their businesses and build industry relationships.
