MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) -- The new owner of Vann's appliance and electronics stores has confirmed the company laid off 17 employees last week in an effort to run the business more efficiently.
Vann CEO Greg Regelbrugge says the majority of the layoffs occurred at the corporate office in Missoula and a warehouse in Lolo, but some occurred at stores across the state.
Regelbrugge says the company had too many staffers in the corporate offices and decided to combine the jobs of sales manager and operations manager at the stores. He says some stores will be hiring salespeople.
Vann's filed for bankruptcy in August. The Khaledi Group purchased the company for $4.5 million in November.
