VEGOILS-Market factors to watch Oct 9

The following factors are likely to influence Malaysian palm oil futures and

other vegetable oil markets.

* Malaysian palm oil futures rose to their highest in nearly three weeks on

Tuesday, posting three straight days of gains, after a market survey showed palm

stocks and output in the world's No.2 producer may be lower than investors had

initially feared.

* Chicago Board of Trade corn and soybean futures fell on Tuesday, pressured by

reports of better-than-expected yields from the ongoing harvest in the U.S.

* Crude oil prices on both sides of the Atlantic gained on Tuesday as

geopolitical risk crept back into the markets, even as the dollar index turned

positive after a mid-morning phone call between U.S. President Barack Obama and

U.S. House Speaker John Boehner over the budget crisis.

* U.S. stock futures rebounded from a one-month low on Wednesday on news that

U.S. President Barack Obama will nominate Federal Reserve Vice Chairwoman Janet

Yellen, seen as a proponent of dovish policy, as the next head of the U.S.

central bank.

* Crude oil, copper and soft commodities cocoa and sugar rose on Tuesday, while

grains and gold eased as investors remained cautious about the partial U.S.

government shutdown and the threat of default.
