VEGOILS-Market factors to watch Sept. 11

The following factors are likely to influence Malaysian palm oil futures and

other vegetable oil markets.

* Malaysian palm oil futures fell to their lowest in more than two weeks on

Tuesday, tracking losses in the U.S. soy market ahead of the next U.S.

Department of Agriculture production forecast.

* U.S. soybean futures slipped on Tuesday on forecasts for modest rainfall that

could bring some relief to crops stressed by recent dryness in the U.S. Midwest.

* Oil prices on both sides of the Atlantic fell by more than $2 a barrel on

Tuesday as Syria accepted a Russian proposal to give up its chemical weapons,

easing concerns about the potential for U.S. military strikes against Damascus.

* U.S. stocks climbed for a sixth straight session on Tuesday as the dollar and

global equities rallied on more upbeat economic data from China, while prices of

safe-haven debt and oil slipped on the chance of a diplomatic alternative to a

potential Western military strike against Syria.

* Oil prices hit a 2-week low on Tuesday while gold and other commodities fell

after Syria accepted a proposal by Russia to give up its chemical weapons,

potentially winning a reprieve from a threatened U.S.-led military strike.
