Verizon Communications (VZ) closed the most recent trading day at $49.03, moving +0.39% from the previous trading session. This move outpaced the S&P 500's daily gain of 0.22%. Meanwhile, the Dow lost 0.13%, and the Nasdaq, a tech-heavy index, added 0.22%.

Coming into today, shares of the largest U.S. cellphone carrier had lost 1.01% in the past month. In that same time, the Computer and Technology sector lost 9.55%, while the S&P 500 lost 10.02%.

Verizon Communications will be looking to display strength as it nears its next earnings release, which is expected to be July 22, 2022. The company is expected to report EPS of $1.35, down 1.46% from the prior-year quarter.
