CARLSBAD, Calif. (AP) _ ViaSat Inc. (VSAT) on Thursday reported fiscal third-quarter net income of $6.5 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.
On a per-share basis, the Carlsbad, California-based company said it had profit of 10 cents.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 1 cent per share.
The provider of satellite and wireless networking technology posted revenue of $588.2 million in the period, also exceeding Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $586.2 million.
ViaSat shares have dropped 9% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $66.53, a climb of 1% in the last 12 months.
