Southern hip-hop/rock group I4NI have officially signed with Thirteen Skulls Entertainment — the new label founded by MLB Hall of Famer Frank Thomas and industry veteran Ron Spaulding — and to herald in the new year, the guys have teamed with labelmate Bubba Sparxxx for the tune “Think It’s a Game.”
Yahoo Music is excited to debut the video of the new song for fans to enjoy.
Robbie Phillips, a.k.a. Stump, of I4NI had this to say about the song: “Bubba Sparxxx was our labelmate and also working on the I4NI project with us at the time, so he jumped on it as soon as he heard it. We loved the song as soon as we created it. At the time we just felt it was a little on the edge or too rock for the project we were producing over there. Fortunately, we kept it for ourselves because it’s perfect for what we’re doing with Thirteen Skulls. It was always one of our favorite records, and we definitely planned on putting it out. Jon, David, and Dammitboy Entertainment recreated and updated the music, and now the stars have aligned.”
He also shared the process behind the video’s creation: “We all collectively had input as far as the treatment. When we wrote the song, we knew the production (heavier guitars and slower tempo) was a bit dark, and the lyrics represented a more painful side of struggling. So to add balance, we wrote the visual in a more inspirational direction. So as the video shows a young man struggling, in the work environment, with problems on the home front, he never loses focus of believing he can make it in the music industry. I believe this resonates with the majority of new musicians. But to sum it up, he kept the faith, remained determined, and overcame.”
In terms of filming the video, “The vibe was laid back. This was one of the easier videos to shoot in my opinion,” Stump explained. “Being that the storyline involved other leading characters, we were able to be on the other side of the camera directing. All videos end up taking longer than expected and are very time-consuming. Which means early mornings and late nights, but that’s to be expected. But this was fun because I think we all enjoy being behind the camera and watching the process of our visuals come to life.”
